How to get there
By plane/from the airport:
public transport:
S-Bahn line S7 (direction: Floridsdorf) to Landstraße/Wien Mitte. From there either underground U4 (green, direction: Heiligenstadt) to Schottenring, then U2 (purple, direction: Karlsplatz) to stop Schottentor/Universität. From there you may either walk or change to tram 43 (direction: Neuwaldegg) or 44 (direction: Dornbach) to Lange Gasse or Landesgerichtsstraße. You will need a ticket for 2 zones, i.e. €4.40.
OR
take the CAT (City-Airport-Train) to Wien Mitte, then same as above. The tickets are €11.- single, €17.- return. NB: The CAT tickets are not valid on Vienna city transport, so to continue from Wien Mitte an extra ticket for one zone (€2.20, one way) is needed!
taxi:
It is usually cheapest to order a taxi in advance
(e.g. C&K Airportservice http://www.ck-airportservice.at, €33.- to anywhere in the city, or http://www.vienna-taxi-airport.at, €26.- to €30.- to the city).
bus:
Vienna Airport Lines - at the airport, take line 1185 to the city centre, via Schwedenplatz (connection to underground U1). Prices ca. €8.- single and €13.- return. These tickets are not valid on Vienna city transport, so to continue your journey an extra ticket for one zone (€2.20, one way) is needed!
By train:
From the West: Trains arrive at Westbahnhof.
Tram line 5 (direction: Praterstern) goes directly to the campus (stop Lange Gasse) or to Sensengasse (stop Lazarettgasse)
Alternatively, underground U6 (brown; direction: Floridsdorf) to Alser Straße, there change to tram 43 or 44 (direction: Schottentor) to Landesgerichtsstraße or Lange Gasse.
From the South, North and East: Trains arrive at Wien Hauptbahnhof.
Underground U1 (red; direction: Leopoldau) to Karlsplatz. there change to Underground U2 (purple, direction: Seestadt) to Schottentor/Universität,
· to go to the campus, then change to tram lines 43 or 44 to Lange Gasse
· to go to Sensengasse/Department, change to tram lines 37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 to Schwarzspanierstraße and walk on to Sensengasse
From the North: Trains may arrive at Franz-Josefs Bahnhof.
Tram line 5 (direction: Westbahnhof) goes directly to the campus (stop Lange Gasse) or to Sensengasse (stop Lazarettgasse).
